The best for skin issues
The Basics line has been the best food for my dogs! My oldest has had skin issues and allergies his whole life (10 years). This has been the only food he can be on that completely makes all skin issues go away and keeps him looking beautiful!

AMAZING, life saver for our Boxer!
I cannot explain the happiness this food has brought our fur babies… we have two boxers with sensitive stomachs and just about everything caused them to throw up every other day, diarrhea, horrific gas and shedding WAY TOO MUCH… after years of top name brand foods, raw foods and homemade food, we were still stuck… Blue Basic has brought the puppy back out of our eldest boxer and both are healthier than ever. Our oldest, 9 yrs old, was over-weight and arthritic but after 4 months of 1.5 cup dry in the AM and 1 cup dry mixed with .5 can of wet Basic turkey and potatoe in the PM he’s lost enough weight to be considered average weight and bouncing around like he did 6 years ago… with no more shedding except after winter, no more spit up or diarrhea or GAS problems! If you are thinking of trying this food, you are heading in the right direction!

Well worth it !
I purchased this due to my 11 year old Cairn Terrier who seemed to have an upset tummy more often than he should, however, it turned out it was the best thing for my other terrier ! He had been losing hair on his sides for months and while it did not seem to itch it looked awful. Our vet said it was alopecia and nothing we could do a thing about. Strangely enough just a couple weeks after switching to this food he began to grow his hair back ! He now has a beautiful coat and shows no signs of ever being bald. The vomiting episodes have slowed to very rare in the last few months and I’m sold on this food. The only down side I can think of is, although it’s a healthy weight variety they don’t seem to have lost a pound. Probably due to the fact my husband sneaks them goodies :(Edit added: Amazon raised the price $20.00 in one month !!!! Ridiculous 🙁

Yummy, Nutritious and Well Received (by Canine Food Inspector)
My 5 1/2 year old Labrador Moby loves this. He’s been on Taste of the Wild, but I’m trying to get his weight under control. He’s gotten moderate results, but honestly the snacks/treats were the real culprit.The ingredients are simple, and the protein looks to be from good sources. At this point, given the volume of the few packers responsible for making most of the “mainstream” brands of dog food out there, every brand’s had a recall of some kind, and there’s probably a few bags that had bad bits no one even noticed or bothered to report. I do hear great things about Blue B, so fingers crossed–I’ve made B Basics Moby’s new food! At 85 pounds, Moby gets 2 3/4 to 3 cups a day. He does still get a few treats here and there, including a rawhide post-swim (please spare me the lecture on rawhides, he’s been eating them for his entire life and has never choked or gotten sick).Hope your pup enjoys this food!

We’ve gone through a bag and our pup (Jack Russell) seems to like it fine except he spits out the little black pieces which hold all the vitamins and nutrients . He hasn’t seemed to have the tummy problems as before but his skin and coat look the same. He’s never had a bad looking coat so it’s not going to change. We’re putting this food on auto delivery. Wish it wasn’t so darned expensive!

Found a substitute
This is an excellent dog food. My dog has a very sensitive stomach and thankfully this food has worked for her for years now. However it has become impossible to find! Having a dog that has a sensitive stomach who gets sick easily having to change foods is a nightmare. I have searched for a substitute for this and looking at the ingredients and nutrition info the Blue Buffalo Basics Senior dog food is extremely close. It is also a turkey and potato formula. I hope this helps someone who is also dreading a food change because this isn’t being stocked.
