Best Pet Feeder We Have Tried!
We have had various small to mid sized dogs as well as a number of cats over the years. Having automated feeders have been key to managing the weight of our pets and helping keep feeding times consistent despite our crazy schedules. That said, all feeders we have tried – and we have tried A LOT! – rarely offer any flexibility in portion sizes and typically give inconsistent amounts at each feeding. All in all, automated feeders have been a love them/hate them tool that usually require ongoing attention to ensure they are working properly.All of this changed when I got the Roffie feeder! Key benefits for us:1) Can have different amounts served at each feeding.We have a cat that will get ill if she doesn’t eat something overnight, but doesn’t need much food. The previous feeders we used had a set amount per feeding – for all feeding cycles. This meant we had to either have a full serving overnight or smaller servings during the day. With the Roffie feeder we can have every feeding provide a different amount.2) Extremely easy scheduling.Many feeders have arcane, difficult methods to set the schedule. The Roffie is MUCH easier! If you can set an alarm clock you can likely setup the Roffie feeder.3) Consistent portionsPrior feeders would often give more/less food on a seemingly random basis. One of the reasons we use a feeder is to manage portions to help maintain a healthy weight. Having our pets get too little or too much led to problems and meant we had to constantly pay attention to the feeder rather than be confident what was being served. It also meant we would be nervous that food for our cats was actually coming out if we are gone all day or overnight. We have had extremely consistent feedings using the Roffie feeder and do not fear that our pets are not being fed.4) No ‘extra’ foodWe have pretty tricky cats and they would bump or reach inside other feeders to sneak additional food. We would also have cats knock off or open the top of some feeders and eat directly from the food storage area. The Roffie feeder mechanism makes pets opening the top near impossible as it latches to prevent opening without pressing a button. We have also not seen any food come out regardless how much the device is bumped or little paws trying to reach inside. This is really nice as we can be confident in the amount of food our pets are getting.5) Holds a sizable amount of food.The Roffie feeder can hold a sizable amount of food without issue. You can pretty much put an entire smaller bag of food into the feeder. Some feeders we tried previously would hold a decent amount, but would end up only taking food from the middle so we would end up with little food coming out as there was a ‘hole’ in the middle of the stored food and leaving food on the sides that is not being distributed. No such issue with the Roffie feeder.6) Seals so food doesn’t go staleHaving a lot of food in the feeder is great, but only if it stays fresh. Cats are especially sensitive if the food gets stale and/or has no scent. The Roffie feeder is made in such a way that the lid closes to prevent the food from going stale. Due to this, he food stays fresh even when left inside for quite a while.7) Easy to see how much food is left.The lid of the Roffie feeder is see through so can pretty easily determine that the food is getting low just by standing over it. Also, since the food serving is consistent, you will have a pretty good idea how many days will pass before running out if you fill the bin to the same level each time.8) Batteries serve as a backup to the wall AC powerAlmost all feeders we tried previously offered battery power, but it was either AC power OR battery. The Roffie feeder can be plugged into AC power and the batteries are only used when the power is out. The batteries also handle feedings without a problem. This is great as you won’t lose your settings if the power goes out as well as ensuring our pets are fed even if there is no power.9) Easy to cleanThe entire device is very easy to clean – typically just a damp cloth does the trick for the outside. The food storage bin is easily removed from the device so you can easily wash it if needed. The feeding tray is easily removable as well so you can wash that when needed.10) Difficult for pets to move the feederSome previous feeders we used would end up getting shoved around. We even got to the point where we had to use mounting tape on some feeders to hold them in place. Sometimes this was just in the process of eating, but other times it was the cat trying to beat on the device to get it to dispense extra food. The Roffie feeder is balanced in a such a way that it is tough for smaller pets to push it around or knock over. There are also rubber ‘feet’ that make it tough to move.Minor Thing We Wish The Feeder Had:1) BacklightIt would be great if the feeder had a backlight for the display. The display is very easy to see, so this is only when managing the schedule in lower light areas. Our feeder sits under a counter so there is no direct light which makes seeing the display a little harder than it has to be. Having the backlight turned on by pressing a button for the feature or only when pressing buttons to set the schedule would be perfect. That said, this is not a major issue as you really don’t need to mess with the settings much once everything is configured.Final Thoughts:After trying a sizable number of feeders with limited success – many substantially more expensive – the Roffie feeder hits just about everything we could hope for. We feel very confident that the feeder will work consistently, even if the power goes out. I cannot recommend this feeder enough. If you are looking for an automated pet feeder that you don’t have to worry about this is the one to get.

I’m BUYING ANOTHER one!!
I received this earlier this evening. It’s a little after midnight. I’m just now unboxing it along with the second one of another brand that bought that has two tray holders. I unboxed the first one, because the box was so small, I actually thought that it was this one. The other brand that I bought. That’s a 2 cat feeder. It does not seem to be as nice as this one. This one is very nice. It has a stainless steel ball in the front. It’s not small which is what I thought it would be kind of small teeny tiny when I bought it, but when you have it in front of you. It’s a fairly decent size. There are 2 rotors. One is already inside of this. You have to unscrew it if you want to put the other one in the one that’s in it currently is for large amounts, and the second one is for smaller amounts. It has digital timing so that you can time the meals. It has a manual press so that you can. You know, as I did tonight, I just pressed Manuel and I’ll set it to Bob because I’m too tired. It has a locking lid that really impressed me and the way that it’s attached to the bowl when you put them together. That’s really all you have to do, is attach? The ball to this, everything else is just straightforward. Digital processing of the meals the actual time first and then the meal times and it goes from there. There’s a lot of little features. It has a usb cord, and the cord has a plug. You can also use batteries so this is a very good one I wish that I had gotten 2 of these to begin with. I started to get 2 of these basically when I first saw it and I read the reviews on it which were excellent. Always read the reviews to see how people feel about something if they’re available. Because it keeps you a heads up on how the product is doing. But I bought the other one because I thought, okay. Well, since I am multi cat I have 3 total 2 cats are always around the house & 1 upstairs that’s pretty much solitary. She doesn’t like being bothered with the others that much. She’s a calico. Calicos are pretty much the f u cats.They don’t like to be bothered much. In the morning, I’ll work with the other one um, but I don’t know like I said, it’s not as nice. Maybe when I open it up and put together, I took all the parts out and it’ll be different. But I would like to return it now and I see this one and just get another 1. I’m a prime member. It’s not that I won’t be refunded. It’s just. I know how long it’s gonna take. I really don’t feel like that, so I might just go on ahead and just bye another one of this brand and just call it a day having 3 feeders in the house. So everybody’s happy, you know, everybody’s got a space to go and disappear in. I really like this, my calico names Mouse because she’s so quiet and her tail is like long and curls around just like a little mouse when she curls up. You know she loves this. She’s rubbing against it now. But she really likes it. She’s eating out of it she’s likes it. She’s happy, and uh, that’s all that matters.
