Top quality!
Just got my new Bissell 2998 yesterday and it’s already been used four times. It is light enough to lift from the box and assemble without instructions but I referred to them anyway. I like the way it all connects with a twist & lock or just a click without needing to refer to highly technical schematics. This is my third new vacuum in six years. Both prior vacuums, a Shark Liftaway and Bissell ClearView, still operate very well but my back and shoulders couldn’t take it any more. The ClearView is significantly more difficult for me to push, and the Shark is awkward. The new 2998 has fantastic suction and for some reason, I suspect it’s the closed HEPA filtration unit, it’s not pulling at my w-2-w carpet up the way the Shark did. Yet it’s powerfully extracting the finest dust particles! I’m just blown away by the power, quality, versatility, and most of all ease of cleaning. It came with an attachment for high dusting or hard to reach corners and the other for upholstery. I wish I had a before picture to share of my ottoman but I literally brought the original color back after two passes using the upholstery attachment. I also like that I can use the rollers or not and adjust for bare floors without having to bend or reach for the switch. The unit is more compact than most vacuums although it’s certainly weighty enough and it’s not made with cheap plastic. It’s actually a pretty appliance if you can believe it. I don’t know after so many months of searching, googling, using AI resources and finally the one embedded in the Amazon app – which I love! – I’m just so thrilled to finally have something to use that doesn’t make me feel my age. My back didn’t hurt once! I nearly selected a Eureka model for about $90 less, and for $200 more I could have the Shark Stratos that was in my cart for four days before finally finding this one. I made the right choice. Highly recommended!

Works great and keeps me honest with those strong LED lights!
I don’t have pets but I finally wanted a “real vacuum cleaner” and after about an hour of research I decided on this Bissell. There were a lot of reviews about the cable getting stuck underneath the vacuum and it seems to me they sort of fixed that: There are areas up top where you can clip the cable and have it be out of the way. The power cord seems fine to me but I live in a small apartment. I was curious though if I did want to get a power cord, and Rufus gave some good affordable power cords that people with a bigger home might want and then the problem of not the longest cord is solved. It was super easy to assemble and very intuitive to use. I have a mop and a stick vac and am clean, or so I thought. I filled the dust container in a half hour, it really cleans deeply. Oh, and there were some comments about the bare floor vaccuming without the brush setting not vacuuming as well as the brush setting and I learned that I can use the vacuum with the carpet brush setting on my bare floors and bathroom. Comments about dust flying if you do that is solved by cleaning your dust container if you have lots of dog hair or other things that could end up falling out somehow. Speaking of hair, my long hair is everywhere and I am always cutting the hair out of the vacuum. I couldn’t believe it, not one single hair was caught inside the brush after vacuuming my whole place. This Bissell is a keeper!

Bissell 2998
I like this vacuum.Pros:* It worked straight out of the box (i saw others had issues).* It was easy to put together.* I do like that this vacuum has long or short carpet switch.* I can see when it needs to be dumped and it is really easy to dump, too.* A little heavy but I have noticed lighter vacuums dont work very well so I dont mind.* You can get flexibility with the vacuum head (whatever you call it) but it also takes some getting used to. I was able to get it in corners and a little ways under my low couch.* When vacuuming the living room where everyone is (including my pittie), it seemed to be picking up the carpet as I went, lol. So that makes me believe it did a pretty good job.* The lights are very bright. I did not think I needed LED lights on a vacuum but here I am liking them! They help to see a lot better.Cons:* I didnt noticed much with the handheld attachment for dog hair.* Hair does get wrapped up around the roller even though it says it doesnt (when it actually picks it up). Im not sure how this would be avoidable and have never seen a vacuum that did not have hair wrap around it. My hair is also VERY long.* I did notice it doesnt pick up everything. We tested it on my daughter’s NASTY floor that had earrings, fake nails, eyelashes, nose rings, etc everywhere (because if a vacuum could get that floor to look better, its a winner), and there was a clump of hair it would just not pick up. It wasn’t that big either. It just flattened it to the carpet every time it rolled over it.* My allergies did start messing with me during and after vacuuming. Which I was hoping wouldnt be the case especially with the HEPA filter.I do wish there was somewhere I could put the attachments on the vacuum. Especially at that price. It picks up wayyy better than the Shark vacuum that looks very close to this model, but purple. The Shark smells awful and makes a horrible noise after only having it about 6 months. Hence, why I bought this vacuum.I can’t really speak to build quality yet, but so far so good. I hope this vacuum lasts years to come.Do I think it is worth the almost $300 I paid for it, not really but i also havent figured everything out on it yet, either. Do I like it though, yes.I also appreciate that this company helps animals in shelters. Good causes will make me a sucker to choose your product over someone else’s.

Great vacuum for pet hair!!!
I have 4 cats and am pretty particular about how clean my house is. I had a Dyson vacuum for quite a few years and it just gave out on me and I was looking for a new vacuum that could really pick up pet hair well. I bought this vacuum based on many factors and it had great reviews. I am happy to say that this is the best vacuum that I have ever had!It even performs better than my Dyson used to! The suction is amazing and it gets a lot of pet hair every day in addition to fine dirt that must be down deep in my rugs. Lots of suction too and the lift off feature is wonderful!!

This is a great machine, but what Amazon does not tell you is that this is an American model and it comes with an American plug. It is not meant to work in Germany.

Why send a UK plug vacume to Australia. Thing blew up.

I’m not someone who usually likes to write about anything and therfore writing a review is not my top list of prioritiesHowever I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 VacuumI absolutely love this vacuum. I’m a long time loyal fan and customer of BissellThis new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment planThis vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering. It’s pretty much a lightweight vacuum. What I want to point out is that there’s LED Lights built in the vacuum at the frontI have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this featureI am totally satisfied with my purchase

First off, this vacuum is probably one of the best vacuums I’ve owned in the sense that it does a great job picking up. We have 2 German Shepherds and when they shed, they SHED and this vacuum makes very short work of all the fur that’s left behind. The reason I do NOT recommend it: The unfortunate part and the reason I’m returning it is after only a week and a half of using it I’ve had to untangle it twice, the first time was with the pet tool and the second was with the main beater bar assembly which was so bad that it stopped, began smelling and when I disassembled it to remove the tangle I found that part of the beater bar assembly had melted. The vacuum itself is great, does a great job but there is a design flaw and hopefully Bissell can get this rectified because it definitely has potential of being fantastic!
