Necessary content for this supersized nation of ours.
My husband recently lost 25 lbs using this plan. He desperately needed to be educated on portion control and using starchy carbohydrates as a staple. As a result of my support in my husbands efforts, I lost 8 lbs. This was solely due to cutting out refined sugar, dialing up the fiber, putting concentration on protein, and watching out for saturated fats. Honestly, I didn’t need to lose a pound, but I have never felt so healthy and lean. I am a personal trainer, and was fit to begin with. You must take this plan to heart. If it doesn’t strike a cord, then you’re not in it to begin with. This book gave us the tools to adopt a new lifestyle of eating. I will not say diet, which is the key to its success. This book is the real deal…not a fad.My friends are actually amazed with the amount of food that I eat in a day considering that I eat 5 times per day. I am 5 feet tall and I weigh 100 lbs. soaking wet. When I bring meals to work, my co-workers gather round to see the culinary treat du jour.I would love to recommend a cookbook that helped us in our efforts to re-think lowfat. The Complete Cooking Light Cookbook. A must. Tone down the fat, Pump up the flavor. This book gives you the breakdown on portion size, calories, fiber, sugar, fats and carbohydrates. It works in harmony with everything Dr. Phil is trying to teach us about the way we, each and everyone of us, should be eating.I would like to share that I am a 47 year old mother of three. I have battled weight all of my life because I love food. I swear my metabolism slammed on the breaks when I hit 40. I have finally reached a very comfortable place with my relationship with food. I never, and I emphasize never, feel deprived. I have acquired a new joy for meal planning. You can’t buy this book looking for a miracle. The first week is hard. You will literally detox from the crap you’re used to eating. Week two, you begin to coast, and then suddenly you realize you’ve created a new lifestyle.

hate Dr. Phil, but love this book
I have been dieting and I love this book for the 500 (707 pgs total) something pages of food charts. It lists a ton of things from fruits/veggies/meats/condiments/drinks/etc. Theres not a whole lot of things you wont find in here. I cant stand Dr. Phil and all his garbage but I really like this book. I wont even bother reading the first couple hundred pages. The meat of it is what I care about.Heres an example of one food listed and how its set up:cheerios, multi grain (GM): serving size 1C/ cals:108/protein: 2(g)/carb: 24(g)/fat(sat fat) 1/t /cholesterol 0(mg)/fiber: 3(g)/sugar 6(g)/ sodium 201 (mg)When you get to other foods that you would put salt/seasoning on, or perhaps cook differently (boil/broil/grill/etc) it shows the calories (etc) for the different variations in the cooking process too. Love love love this book. I know they have calorie counters and such online but I like having everything at my finger tips where I dont have to search them all out and type a million different things. And when you buy it used, (cheap) its even better.

I lost 80 pounds
It took me a few years but I did it. It taught me portion control and I didn’t have to count calories. You can follow the menus or pick your own foods using the guidelines it gives for # proteins per day, # starchy vegetables, # fruits, and # fat and dairy. You can have unlimited non-starchy veggies. I bought this copy for my friend to use. I didn’t want to give up mine. Most of the book is food tables with calories and it breaks it down into the high response, low cost foods which are the healthiest, and the low response, high cost foods, like your processed fatty foods so there isn’t a whole lot of reading. Once you’ve followed it for a year or two, it becomes easy to know on your own what to eat without even looking at the book. If you start putting on weight then you just go back to the plan for a while to get you on track. You CAN eat this way for the rest of your life. I’ve been doing it for 6 years now.

Have not yet finished
I have not yet finished the book, but from what I have read I really enjoy it. Dr Phil is to the point and gives you the facts, which I feel is missing in allot of other diet books. They give you a glimpse of what you need to know and expect you to figure it out. Dr. Phil lets you know the facts and science behind it and gives you the tools needed to accomplish your goals.

It helps you loose the weight not only for the person loosing weight but to keep all your family healthy.
I like this book because it gives you a greater variety of recipes and its not just a diet book but book to keep your family healthy. It the continuation of the book of the 7 keys for the Ultimate Weight Solution that only gives you a 2 week menu but with this not only you have a bigger menu, you can also make your own menu with out feeling left out of your family and friends meal. So it is easy to loose weight and keep it off.

This book is very hard to use
This book is not worth the price, it’s very hard to read due to the way it was printed. The pages look and feel so thin. Not quality. Do not waste your time on this book. Cheaply made.

Not User Friendly
The layout of the book was difficult to follow and contained very few restaurants and/or menu items. It also did not contain as many counts as I would have liked.
