Great leash-used for 3 years
I have used this leash for 3 years with my dog. It’s a great leash and durable. My dog loves to sniff so it’s great for us, I can keep walking and he will eventually catch up. It’s strong if he ever runs and reaches the end of his leash.Never had issues with the lock, etc. Recently the rubber came loose in the handle but it doesn’t bother me. Additionally, it can get stuck at lengths if it doesn’t feed in straight. This doesn’t happen all that often and when it does, it’s super easy to correct by just allowing it to feed in straight. I would recommend! I’m purchasing another leash bc his smells and I’m too lazy to wash it lol.

A great leash
I use this leash to take my dogs out to potty, as 1 of them cannot be trusted without one and our yard is not fenced. I LOVE this leash for that purpose. She can get far enough away from me that she has privacy to do her business, while still allowing me to keep her contained. The leash itself holds up well to weight, my girl is 109 lbs and I have never felt like it was not sturdy enough to hold her. The only thing I do not like about the leash is the locking mechanism is a little weird. Most other leashes I have used like this you can push the button and hold it to lock it, and slide it to hold the lock at that length. This leash whenever you push the lock button it holds at that length and a button has to be pressed to release it again. Once I got used to it, it is fine, but it threw me off the first few times I used it. Overall, great leash and would 100% buy again if/when I need another one.

As good or better than other leashes, but the spring gets weak and retracts poorly.
I’ve read reviews for most of the 26 foot leashes on Amazon and they all have the same complaint; poor re-tractability.The leash started out retracting pretty good, but after a few months, it won’t retract all the way sometimes or at all.I have cut the “tape” twice now and it’s now down to about 15 feet long and is retracting well again, as I suspect a new 16 foot leash would.I don’t think this is a defect of this brand or model, it’s just that there is a limited amount of space for a spring in this size leash and I don’t think the amount of space for the spring is adequate for a 26 foot lead.Other than the retraction issues, it’s as good or better than any other leash I have used.I don’t know if I will go a 16 foot leash next time, or just get the 26 foot model and cut it down as the retracting performance degrades.

It’ll wear out, but not because the leash frays
I have been using this for over two years with a very active border collie mix, in an area with strict leash regulations. We play flyball for at least an hour each day, and the 26-foot length of this retractible leash is the longest I’ve been able to find. After two years the reel retracts with about 90% original strength, which is plenty. The leash itself shows only slight wear, which is remarkable after many thousands of rapid extensions and returns. I believe this is because it is made of a fiber that is inherently harder than the plastic casing. As you can see in the attached photo, the handle’s casing is what eventually wears out, at the opening where the leash extends and retracts. The edge of the leash is like a saw that cuts through the casing. As any fan of the Mohs hardness scale knows, you must make a choice when two materials come in frequent contact: the one that is harder than the other will wear through the other. Given the choice, I will take this result any day over the alternative, which would be me holding an intact handle and my dog running around with a worn-out section of leash. Today I am replacing my first copy of this great product with another one just like it. This is only because the leash now gets stuck in the crevice it has worn, stopping the fun with my dog. I want to emphasize that my dog’s play style is an absolute outlier as a stress test for this leash, and if you are just going to walk around with your dog on the other end, it should serve you well for many years.

Good leash for the price
PROS: sturdy and well made, great price, long, lightweight. The cord is surprisingly strong, as my dog likes to grab on to it and pull and it has shown no signs of fraying or tearing.SO-SO: the locking mechanism took time getting used to, since pressing all the way down would lock and pressing half-way down would only stop the leash momentarily. After several months of daily use the push down lock mechanism stopped working, although pushing the button with your thumb continues to lock no problem. Secondly, the leash is supposedly designed to prevent the cord from twisting and getting stuck when retracting, but that’s isn’t the case. It happens pretty often.CONS: the retracting mechanism is weak and sometimes because it doesn’t retract fast enough I have to pull and retract (as of I was fishing) and sometimes have to grab the cord with my other hand to pull the dog (I’ve burned my hand once). So that part is annoying. Secondly, after months of use the mechanism stopped retracting fully, so I have almost 1.5ft of dangling cord left over.Last update 3/31/22. Leash finally broke after 6 months. The internal plastic locking mechanism broke so it no longer extends. Only worth 6 months of daily walks.Overall a decent leash for the price. A year duration would have been more acceptable.

Note: I have used this only for two weeks. The lock/unlock mechanisms feel good, the retraction is quite responsive/fast and there is no “entanglement” tendency of the cord. It looks well-made and “solid”, but no time to comment on durability. Very satisfied (so far).

This is a great leash for the value. I struggle a bit with unlocking it but it seems to be an operator issue and I think I am just not doing it correctly. Sometimes it unlocks easily and other times it takes me a couple of tries. Locking works well, it is just unlocking that I find I need to try a few times before it unlocks, which in the overall use is less important than being able to lock quickly. Overall, I love the length and durability. Edit – it was operator error and I now have it figured out. Great leash and don’t get frustrated if you don’t get the release and lock figured out right away. Take some time to practice before you have you dog leashed and pulling on it.

La clanche de verouillage fonctionne bien mais bloque le mécanisme . Il faut déverrouiller avec le bouton du dessus. On s’habitue avec la pratique mais il aurait été avantageux que la clanche ne bloque le mécanisme que temporairement et que le mécanisme se débloque en relâchant le doigt sur la clanche.La laisse est résistante et la courroie ne s’emmêle pas. C’est malgré tout un bon produit.

Kinda heavy, didn’t realize that for my little pooch but love the length, 26 ft is awesome and it’s not cheaply put together, it will definitely last. The one thing I don’t like but will get over, is the lock…you can’t press the button to temporarily hold the pooch in one place it automatically locks it and if they are tugging you can’t just press the button to release its a bit of a pain in the butt….a quick lock button would be ideal on top of the permanent lock, something to think about
