I’ve had one since 2022 w/ our 75# active and muscular dog. My only complaint is that it died yesterday. It went on full extension and never retracted despite numerous attempts to shake it, tap it, push the lock button on and off repeatedly, and spraying WD-40 into the leash hole when we managed to get home w/out tangling up on the 16ft of loose leash. Had to buy a temporary retractable leash for this morning’s walk and noted right off that the handle on my old Mighty Paw was much roomier, holding several knotted waste bags easily on the bottom part of the handle while still leaving room for my fingers. The temporary leash has a smaller handle despite being for large dogs, and my fingers were crowded. Great leash in every other aspect. Buying another now.

Great leash but 1 design flaw
This is a good retractable leash. It’s held up well when used for a 50-ish lb poorly trained pup and I’d love to give it 5 stars BUT the poo bag dispenser keeps popping off randomly with the slightest touch. The dogs have knocked it off a few times just by lightly nosing the lead when it’s hanging up (it’s how they tell us they want to go for a ‘real walk’). Other than that, it’s a great product

Exactly what I wanted. Bag attachment works well. Button to work the leash is low profile and perfect. I’ve tried several others and this is by far the best! The leashes with a bag holder that is separate is annoying AF. This thing is just the best. Highly recommend

Good idea, bad idea.
Our retractable leash I bought from the pet store lasted maybe a decade? I wasn’t surprised when it finally broke, since we abused that thing. What I did not like about that leash was that I felt it was a little short especially because a young Jack Russell wants to run as far as the eye can see!The ratings for that brand was not reassuring since other reviewers said the quality has gone down. There are also other brands made by Chinese companies and I’m a little sore over buying things from China due to safety, copy-cats, reducing quality of components to save a few cents, or maybe the first production run is great to get 5-star Amazon reviews then they drop the quality. This LOOKED like an American brand probably made in China, so I decided to give it a try.I liked the color. The handle is comfortable because it has rubber but in a decade the rubber would probably get nasty. I want a handle that I can put my whole hand through to facilitate picking up dog poop; I don’t know how people pick up dog poop while holding the dog leash – it has to be all one-handed but then how do you knot the bag with one hand? Maybe they do the awkward putting the leash between their arm and side or between their legs move …Maybe people don’t pick up after their dogs or they don’t knot the bag – I have no idea. I hook a spare collar on the handle so I can do just that. You should try it!The leash – The reflective thread is nice. I like that because we walk at nights often. However, there was a spot where there was no reflective thread and whoever was making it didn’t care and just stuck the tape back under the machine. My husband said, “It’s O.K.” Roll eyes.The actual tape/rope/nylon has a thickness of 0.45 mm. Our old leash is 0.66 mm thick. So it is 0.2 mm or 30% thinner. It does not sound like a lot, but it is appreciable – it feels cheaper and makes me think it is more likely to fray. Also, the opening where the nylon comes out does not have a smooth piece of plastic to keep it straight like the old leash so that could also explain why other customers had frayed leashes. My dog is a 11 lb Jack Russell senior. I would definitely NOT recommend this leash to any dog bigger than that. My husband said, “It’s probably O.K. but not as good as the other one”. Roll eyes.What upsets me most is that we were walking around the city next to a busy road at night. My dog has his little blinky light so cars can see him and then hopefully us, and we were staying on the side walk (where it existed – we’re in the SF Bay Area in California and it is surprising how wheel-chair/pedestrian/bicycle UNFRIENDLY our city is) and the road has a speed limit of 40 mph so obviously people drive 5-20 mph faster than that. My dog tried to lunge into the street because I accidentally said “Let’s Go (to the supermarket)” and normally I wouldn’t freak out but the leash did not lock! THANKFULLY there were no cars at the moment. My husband said it had been locked and he is confident that the lock works. What we surmised is that when our dog lunged, because my husband’s thumb was hovering over the lock, the lunge forward pulled the forward against his thumb and unlocked the leash. I normally grip the leash with my thumb on the side, not over the trigger!The lock mechanism is EASY to lock and unlock BY DESIGN. This design decision however was not made with safety first in mind. I think that is incredibly stupid. Imagine if you have a kid and the dog lunges into the street? Your kid could follow. There goes the kid and dog. Do you really want to take that risk? And my husband said, “It’s not the lock, it was my thumb.” Roll eyes. Last straw definitely. Why do I need to wait for my dog to die before my husband says this leash (which I picked) was a bad idea?Good idea, bad idea. Good idea: buy a leash that is safe. Bad idea: Buy this leash.I’m going to have to return this. We actually have the old leash still that my husband stuck in a metal piece to replace the plastic part that broke so it actually locks very well. It’s just hard to unlock. Safety over comfort any day.

It’s a great lead strong for dogs that pull, only one slight problem is that when you want to release the lead the button seems to stick now and again but it does work after a bit of a fiddle, it’s fine when walking on locked lead overall it’s a good comfy handle to hold and love the d ring to attach the poop bags 😉👌

Werkt op zich goed, maar weegt relatief weinig. Het voelt ook veel minder robuust aan dan onze vergelijkbare andere intrekbare hondenriem die al jarenlang meegaat. Vooralsnog, omdat het verder prima werkt, krijgt het de voordeel van de twijfel, we zullen zien hoelang deze mee gaat.
