Tell pesky parasites to ‘bug off’ with the Hartz UltraGuard Flea & Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens. This fresh scented, purple collar kills and repels fleas and ticks for 7 months. The water resistant design remains effective even after getting caught in the rain. Also features a breakaway safety release. For continuous flea and tick protection from head to tail, replace the collar every 7 months. Directions: Remove collar from package, unroll and stretch to activate insecticide generator. Do not use on kittens under 12 weeks of age. Do not unroll collar until ready to use. Place the collar around the cat’s neck, adjust for proper fit and buckle in place. The collar must be worn loosely to allow for growth of the cat and to permit the collar to move about the neck. Generally, a properly fitted collar is one that, when fastened, will snugly slide over the cat’s head. Leave 2 or 3 inches on the collar for extra adjustment and cut off and dispose of the extra length. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged or medicated pets. Sensitivity may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. Some animals may become irritated by the collar if it is applied too tightly. If this occurs, loosen the collar. If irritation continues, remove the collar and bathe your cat with mild soap and rinse with large amount of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately. Do not use this product on cats simultaneously or within 30 days before or after treatment of other flea and tick products. However, flea and tick collars may be replaced immediately.

Second time buyer
This is my second time purchasing the Hartz UltraGuard Flea & Tick Collar, and I’m very satisfied with it. The collar provides full body protection that lasts a full 7 months, which is excellent value. It’s incredibly easy to put on my cat, and I appreciate the safety release snap feature for peace of mind. The collar effectively kills and repels fleas and ticks, including flea eggs and larvae. Since I’m back for a second purchase, that should tell you how well it works! Highly recommend for anyone looking for long-lasting, hassle-free flea and tick protection.

Work as good as expensive stuff
Get these all the time for my pets. No need for the more expensive stuff. These keep the fleas and ticks off.

Nice low cost collar, although not as effective as drops
This collar is soft and supple, and has a nice mild fragrance. The breakaway feature works, as my outdoor cat has lost one on a tree branch. The price is a real bargain at about 50 cents a month. The collar works, as I find dead fleas when I comb, but there are still live fleas present. Some types of flea drops work better than the collar, but they are very expensive. I leave the collar on full time, and occasionally use flea drops in the summer when fleas are at their worst.

Budget-friendly flea control
I had been using this type of flea control on my dog(s) for many years, they worked just fine, no irritation and were budget-friendly. I allowed myself to be lured to a different type of flea control that was 10 times the cost, which subsequently failed, and my dog got fleas. I wholeheartedly recommend this product, and will NOT buy the other. The length was more than adequate.

Caused both of my cats severe hair loss and health problems in five days!
This review is for the specific product that I purchased, Hartz UltraGuard Flea & Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens. My complaint is with the product itself and not Amazon. I bought these collars for both of my cats and both of my dogs as a preventative measure. None of them showed signs of fleas or ticks but we have recently moved to a new state where there are stray cats out and about, along with a lot of other insects that were not at our old home and state. Both of my cats are inside cats, trained to be on leashes, walk, sleep and typically stay near us. However, we bought them because I do take my dogs outside and we feared our dogs catching fleas and bringing them into our cats.I purchased them on August 30, 2022 and received them on September 1, 2022. I put them on all of my animals as the package instructed. I left enough room for 1-2 fingers to fit under the collar to ensure they weren’t too tight. In the few days after, we noticed that the cats had strong, foul smelling feces. More than usual. One of my cats vomited a few times but we didn’t think much of it. Maybe the cats ate something when we didn’t see them or something like that. I never thought that the collar would be the culprit (I still don’t know if it is but it’s a big coincidence). Until today, September 6, 2022. My cats came to lay with me and I noticed one had a large bald spot near his neck. The hair wasn’t thin or thinning, it was completely bald. I then moved the collar and saw that it was completely bald under where the collar was. Additionally, parts of it were extremely red and raw while other parts looked dry like skin was flaking off. I checked the other cat and it was the same thing only not as bad. The hair underneath the collar of my other cat was gone as well but the skin didn’t look as bad. I immediately removed the collars and wrote Hartz. I received an email very quickly from them which is a plus I guess. I called the number in the email and eventually spoke to a poison control center that they forwarded me to. They in turn said that they share my report and finding not only with the company Hartz, but a report will be generated to the Environmental Protection Agency. My dogs seem ok but I will remove the collars from them too as a precaution. The poison control center gave me a direct number to reach them at 24/7 in case anything else develops or doesn’t get better. Unfortunately as stated above, I just moved to a new state with my family, tens of thousands of dollars to attend an internship at a hospital here that is unpaid so, not only do I not have veterinarian here, I currently don’t have the funds for that. The lady at the poison control center said that if I had to go the veterinarian, I would have to pay and then contact Hartz and they may be able to help me with the costs. All I can do now is hope that my cats get better. When asked about recovery, the lady at the poison control center said that depending on the cats, it could take weeks, up to years for their hair to grow back if it does at all. This is frustrating because not only did I pay a lot of money for my cats, having them flown in from another country, but because we love them as part of our family. Buyer beware with this product and I hope none of you have this issue. Oh, FYI my cats are pure bread Oriental Shorthair so I don’t know if it’s a breed specific thing or what. Hope this helps someone.

Kills ticks, but not fleas.
I put these on my outside cats, they immediately stopped getting ticks. My inside cats somehow got fleas, probably from me bringing them in, and these Collars did absolutely nothing for the fleas. I did Flea drops, then a few days later put the Collars on. It’s been 2 weeks and the fleas are worse than before. I’m on the hunt for something that will work.

Purrfect for outdoor kitties
These are perfect for outdoor cats! We care for a few homeless fur babies, and we live in the country, so ticks and fleas are a big threat. This is a great option to help keep them away! Plus, they come off easily if the cat gets snagged up, so no worries about them hurting themselves. Easy to put on and adjust. Tomas Purrtl didn’t mind at all! Would recommend!

Great protection for your cat
It is great for flea control. The only side effect is that my cat keeps taking it off.

Ensure you clean your cat of all fleas before you put the collar on. If the cat is heavy flea infested already its not expected to be as effective. The only issue I feel is a strong fragrance which is good for me but I am not sure how the cat is dealing with it.

It poisoned my cat but not the mites, the cat became drowsy and melancholic after 7 days of wearing it
