Great litter!
Edit: March 23, 2024After trying this litter for a little while I really did like it and decided it was going to be my litter for my cat and myself. I had two bags of expensive litter, and my cat would not go back to them. So, they are sitting in storage at the moment until I decide what to do with them. She obviously had a strong liking to this litter, and one good thing about it is that the tofu part is white. She had a bladder issue, and I never would’ve seen it or known about it. The white tofu part showed there was obvious blood in litter. There was no way she was letting me know that she had an issue. Cats do hide their feelings when they don’t feel well. Things could’ve gotten much worse if I had a dark litter where the blood would not have shown up. I’ve been using this litter now for a while—over a year and I have to say it doesn’t track around the house much. It’s very easy to vacuum up, and with use of a litter liner to loosen it from the side, it’s very easy to get into the scoop and flush it down the toilet . It also does not spread dust anywhere. As a result, it’s better for your cats, lungs and for you, as well as the fact that it does not contribute to the dust in your house. I highly recommend.Edit: July 1, 2023–I complained about the wood flooring in one of the bags and Fukumaru replaced my entire order. That is good customer service. In addition, since using this brand, I used a similar litter made of Peas fiber, that is all white and when dry smells a bit like coconut. The Fukumaru is superior litter. The other brand, also sold here at Amazon, smells sort of sour, or funky when wet. It doesn’t smell like urine, but I don’t like the smell. In addition, this other one that is also flushable, doesn’t fall apart as well in the toilet and can clog the toilet if you aren’t careful and flush too soon, or put a bit too much in the bowl. Given time, and soaking it did break up, but I didn’t have this issue with Fukumaru. For both, you need enough litter in the box, or the litter gets stuck firmly in the cat box. The fukumura is not as bad when the sticking if the litter is not deep enough. This is due to the apple wood in addition to the rest of the white litter. Just keep the litter deep enough so the liquid doesn’t hit the bottom of the pan. This can be a problem with clay litter too. I use a liner, so it is easier to free up, by pulling on the liner and loosening the clump.Original post: I like the lack of scent, the absence of tracking throughout the house, and the clumping. I love the flush ability. It makes me feel free because I live in a condo and must take the litter out to the dumpster, and flushing is a breeze. My cat just gets a little outside the box–by about a 2 foot distance from her exiting the box. It vacuums up easily and it’s not “used” litter. My cat likes it too. What I didn’t like about it is that it is very pricey and the second “brick” wasn’t a brick and contained a piece of old wooden flooring and I paid an outrageous amount of money for that slab of flooring I had to throw away. What kind of quality control is that? I wish I had opened it within the 30 days of purchase to complain to Amazon and gotten a refund.

Update~ 4.11.24~ As I order another 2 pack on Subscribe & Save wondered if I reviewed.I did so here’s the update.This is not regular litter. It requires a learning curve which is Unbelievably worth it.A 2pk is about 12 bucks a bag and lasts as long as the big bag of A&H corn & wood litter.It is unscented. There is no smell when dirty except pooh which gets scooped & flushed.Pee clumps I use diaper bags & a litter genie then throw away when full.The kitten is now one year. She’s been on this litter for 10 months.Although I rarely see her eat the litter, she walks out licking her lips & smiling.Especially when it’s fresh. She has the world’s most regular pooh so guess its digestible.The cat, now going on 7, still chews pads but way less often since no sand residue.Personally I think she likes the company of the kitten she adopted & is less OCD.I order a 2 pack of Fukumaru bc with 2 cats it’s just over one bag a month.If the bag was 7 oz instead of 5.5 it’d go a month for my water loving lil pee-ers.Unlike other litters, you can scoop this down to bear bones as in an inch.It’s not like other litters. It will clump a gallon of kitten pee in an inch of litter.I start with a clean box at 3″, top off until it’s time to run down to wash.Only flaw? It’s so lightweight that it goes aerial when kitten stands outside box & flings.Upside? When you step on it feels like a crumb not a bolder vs old litter pellets.Well that and happy cats.Original Review~ 6.26.23~ First I bought one bag, for the kitten who ate clay litter.Then I bought a 2pk after the cat who’s been on ‘Okocat’ for years, liked it.For the kitten, she was being dewormed and the litter had to flush.Not a fan of flushing but have you seen the size of 6wk old kitten pooh?Looks like a peanut in the shell, it’s not a lot & toilet’s been fine but now we trash it.For the long-haired cat with tufts the litter gets stuck in, Oko was the only option.Their’ Less Mess’ pellets have been the best scoopable, no stink option.But Oko breaks down to sand so alas bk to cat chewing her pads & vet visits.Found a tofu litter the cat loved and Of Course~ Poof.Tried another from Chewy. It was Awful. Green Tea my foot.After she used it smelled like Burnt Tea & pee.Bk to Oko & trying to shift out the sand breakdown.Spraying her pads with Saline every time she comes from the box.Good times. Like a tamer version of trimming her nails. Lucky she loves me.If it wasn’t for this feral, litter eating, kitten wouldn’t have found ‘Fukumaru’.> > DetailsThis is more affordable than tofu litter bc it’s tofu pellets with soy & wood clusters.Even unscented there has never been a stink except when initial pooh.Once it’s covered, the scent is gone~ absorbed. Poof in a good way.On 3rd bag and there has not been one grain of sand.Kitten had no interest in eating it. Cat has no interest in eating her paws.It’s so weird how with pee, it looks like a sponge & sits on top.A bag lasted longer than I thought it would.Same size with half the weight of a sack of potatoes and a handle.With one large litter genie box & one kitten size broiler pan, got 2-3 weeks.Filled deep enough for cats to bury, scooped & topped off when it got low.The boxes were clean. Mix with Silica Cat Litters for Even Better Performance and Value
Our favorite litter by far, as the quality is fantastic compared to other tofu litters we’ve tried. The only reason we ever buy any other brand is price. We like this over clay and other alternative litters because it is very low dust and hardly tracks beyond the immediate vicinity of the litter box. The applewood formula is our favorite, as it is mostly unscented and seems to control odor better than the other formulas.With that said, this litter isn’t perfect–used alone, it can cake on the bottom of the litter box (which thankfully is still easy to clean, unlike with clay litters) and smell of ammonia after a few days. We’ve fixed the absorbency issues, eliminated ammonia smells, and stretched the longevity and value of this litter by adding cheap, unscented silica crystal cat litter at about a 3:2 ratio. (Silica is NOT flushable but we don’t flush the litter anyway.) Silica alone never worked out for us, but with the tofu and silica mixed together, we now have litter that is always dry, comes cleanly off the pan, lasts for weeks, is low dust, doesn’t track, and is easy to scoop!

But it is not as good as “The Worlds Best Cat Litter”, which is our regular go to. We decided to try this. It takes some getting used in the way it clumps. It deals with smells ok, but we will be going back to our usual.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I have two giant Maine Coons at home that use the same litter box, and this product is amazing. One box lasts nearly 2 weeks and effectively covers the smell. It’s very useful, and we are very happy with it. Highly recommended!

For someone who is allergic to dust, I am thrilled to say this has so far been 100% dust free! It is light weight, has no strong scents, no tracking seen yet and seems to help with odour control. I am waiting to see how long a bag lasts for cost effectiveness. I have two cats and neither of them mind using it.
