I love the bright color and the durability of this leash. The only complaint is the lock feature is a bit tricky and takes some getting used to. It isn’t as easy to manipulate as other retractable leashes I have used.

No More Tangled Leash Struggles!
I’ve been using this retractable dog leash for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly impressed! The design feels sturdy but lightweight, and the retracting mechanism is super smooth, no tangling or jerky movements. Inconvenient Lock
It’s not a horrible retractable leash. Overall quality seems about middle of the road: it has a good feel, is not overly bulky, is light in the hand, and has a the ribbon leash itself is nicely reflective. However, the spring is slow which makes me question how long it will last, and despite the claims, I certainly wouldn’t trust this with a 100lb dog unless they are either low energy, or very docile walkers.Moreover, the locking mechanism is incredibly inconvenient. Most leash locks have 2 settings: the first is a complete lock that will hold the ribbon in place and neither let the dog draw it any further, nor will it retract as they come closer, and the second is a quick lock that allows the walker to lock the leash in place, draw the errant dog closer, then let up and allow the spring to retract the slack. This leash does not have that second setting. There is no “quick lock.” The single lock is a push forwards/pull back sliding switch, and while it does function for preventing the leash from being drawn out any further, the need to manually disengage the lock and the slowness of the spring in retracting the ribbon, makes it very difficult should a walker need to rapidly pull back their dog.

I bought this product previously but misplaced my first leash. I had been very happy with it so decided to replace the first with the same product. However I found the first leash before the second arrived. Therefore I now have a second as a backup. I haven’t used the second leash yet. However the first has proven to be very robust and reliable the spring tension is very good and the fabric strap is durable. After 6 months of daily use, often in the bush, the leash has operated reliably. There are a number of products on the market that look the same. However I have tried a couple of them and had lead breakage and rewind spring failures. The Emperor product on the other hand has been very reliable. If I had a complaint it would be with the size. The handle is too small to hold with a winter gloved hand. Consequently I tend to hold it with 2 or 3 fingers. Not really a big deal.

It’s good, I like it and it’s really long. My dog can go off and sniff and run a round when on walks and hiking. It does get stuck and it’s a bit hard to lock sometimes or unlock but it’s been through the ringer and still holding strong.
