Covers everything
This book is wonderful to have handy. I am a vet tech and work at a dog care center. I bought this book in hopes that when I am not there the other staff would be able to perform basic first aid until I can get there or they can get to a vet if necessary. This book covers so much and has definitely helped my staff start to be able to recognize when they need help and handle basic first aid when they are able. They have all read through the book and agreed this book is definitely a good book to keep handy there. I will be ordering a second book to keep in my personal vet bag since that one is now staying at work.

A Must for Any Dog Owner
This book is a must for any dog owner. It is the same book set given at the Red Cross Pet First Aid class and is the same DVD used in the class. The information is up-to-date and relevant and employs modern first aid techniques akin to human first aid and CPR. The chapters are well-organized and cover everything from mild abrasions to poisoning. The pictures used throughout the book and video on the DVD clearly illustrate the proper procedures to follow. Although not intended as a substitute for veterinary care, this book could make the difference between life and death for your dog in an emergency and I highly recommend it for anyone who comes into contact with dogs on a regular basis.

Very informative, useful diagrams
This contains a lot more info than I realized looking at the preview photos, and I actually learned quite a bit (despite being already certified in human 1st Aid, CPR/AED). The only qualm I have is that after I received this book, I took the American Red Cross 1st Aid for Cats & Dogs, and they state CPR should be done with 2 breaths for every 30 compressions, but this book states it should be 1 breath for every 5 compressions. Not sure whom to believe…

Good introduction but breif
I would classify this as a very good introductory book that would enable you to evaluate much more detailed books and information out there. I do like the source of information being the American Red Cross. This book is only 116 or so pages and less than a half inch thick with a decent number of pictures and a decent DVD. I think if you have not had any training or information this is a good start, if you have other books, like those available at the local library, Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc., on Dog First Aid; Then this may not be for you.

Highly recommend
This is am amazing edition to a pet lover’s library. Including the DVD. Don’t get stuck with after hours emergency vet bills. Answer your questions and help your pet yourself.

basic to intermediate
Not a bad book. User friendly pictures and easy to read. The content is a bit basic/intermediate with very broad topic coverage. It’s definitely a must if you have NO training and knowledge. I am still looking for a book with more specific topics and greater detail.

Important book to have
Great to have on hand just in case. I did a pet CPR course and this is the book they referred to. So happy I found it here on Amazon. Hope to never need it…. but it has covered every kind of situation you may find your pet in. Excellent!

Red Cross First Aid For Dogs Book and DVD
This is a wonderful book and DVD for Dog parents. I also bought this for my classes, but feel everyone who lives with dogs should have one. I am taking Small Animal Massage, Acupressure and Tellington T Touch. Some of the books are more interesting than others but all contain valuable information. I am ordering this book for gifts for friends as well.
