A derivative of Vitamin A, Adapalene gel 0.1% is a member of the retinoid ingredient family and previously only available by prescription. Retinoid help slow down the accumulation of dead skin cells in the pores, which is a main contributor to breakouts. Retinoid also help prevent and improve white heads and blackheads because they increase cell turnover. Studies have shown that compared to other retinoid, Adapalene gel 0.1% causes less irritation to the skin. Adapalene gel is oil-free, fragrance-free and dermatologist developed.

You got this! Just be prepared for the ride. And hang on!
Started June 8th, today is July 11, 2025Tips that are very important if you are starting:Keep away from eyes and mouth! Wait to bring it closer once your face gets use to it.My regimen includes Vanicream facial Daily moisturizer, which is really good. You can use one layer that soaks into skin, or add a second for it to sit on skin. Then I use Versed retinol eye balm to protect my eyes and mouth but still get the retinol. I then use a pea size amount of this adapalene around my face and nose, avoiding EYES and MOUTH. Then I put an another layer of vanicream facial moisturizer still avoiding my eye lids and lips.I made the mistake using it on my eyes and mouth, my eyes felt like they weren’t producing tears for a week, and my lips were peeling so bad, it felt like plastic on my lips that hurt so bad if I smiled. I did have to purchase the Cerave healing balm because that happened, and that balm did speed the healing. But because I over did it, I had to take longer breaks. However it does say on the directions avoid eyes and mouth I believe, and I ignored it lol. I did purge but also still am. My acne is below my skin, my face is bumpy to touch although it’s not much visible, that’s why I started adapalene. I’m glad everything is coming to the surface. And if you have acne like that, you will benefit from this product. During the day I use the vanicream daily facial moisturizer and sunblock. To wash my face, I use Cerave Hydrating face wash. It has no suds but my face can feel tight at times so it’s still the best for where I’m at right now. I’m one month in. And I’m proud of myself for not giving up, my skin is changing and the adapalene isn’t as harsh as it was in the beginning. I’ll update later on progress. Also my skin when I started adapalene was dry acne prone sensitive.. my face is changing to balanced acne prone, sensitive still because of the adapalene, tightness more so but not anything the vanicream can’t fix. I’m still in the beginning of this journey. These products helped me. The Sephora mineral sunblock I got on sale for 5 bucks, it’s really good and moisturizing. I thought people should know an honest experience and that you don’t have to get the trends of skincare, find what works, and what works for your wallet.Update Aug 18th, 2025My skin is still purging. However, my skin is brighter, and there is a noticeable difference in my acne scars. Texture has improved, pores are smaller, and my skin is no longer very dry. Some days are better than others. If I didn’t take photos, I wouldn’t be able to appreciate it as much as I do with being able to see the changes. I feel the changes in my cheeks when I wash, less bumps inside, but they are still showing up.. which is a good thing. They use to just be stuck in my cheeks. The adapalene speeds up the process for sure. 3 months in, acne has not stopped though. It’s a process for sure.Update Sept 25 2025September 12 I switched to tretinoin. I was none stop purging with adapalene. The adapalene was an excellent starting point. But I don’t purge with the tretinoin. I started using the Parnell calming line at the same time and I have no more inflammation or itchiness. I think using something calming whether it’s a toner or serum with adapaline is a good idea. Something with centella.

Great result in a week!
In recent months I have suffered from acne and I had tried everything but nothing helped me. I have been using this cream for a week and the change has been very satisfactory, the acne is drying up and no longer produces pain. I will continue to use the cream to improve the results!

Updated. Hated it at first Learned my mistakes and now love it
I have asian tan skin with alot of indented scars and blackheads and redness. Used to have bad acne but it got more controlled. Noe juat decided to use the product to help with old century long blackheads and scars. So the product Made my face clear the next day and super soft. I love it at first. Now is my third week and it seems to be making small pimples pop out. Use it 2x a week. Not sure how to feel about it but scared because it is super noticeable. My face gets red and dry after the 2nd week And remember only to put a small dab. Will update. My face gets itchy too. Not sure if that is the sunscreen or the product but we shall see if there is a diff in another 2 weeks.Update oct 2020Skin is getting better plump and clearer worth the money just remeber to keep skincare simple when using this and always always a small dab no matter how tempted you are at putting more to cover the face. Bc if you do ur face will turn pink indicating a burn or irritation LOL. From today there is Not much acne and bumps where it was before when i first started. My purging period was scary and irritating but it seems better now. Only issue like i said before is My face got dry and so on days that i dont use this( which i use 1-2 x a week) i use serum and moisterizing toners. Yea works great and this products keeps my acne at bay love it and since it is my first retinoid. I love it after hating it at first. So 4 stars! Overall Only 10 bucks. Just buy it and try it and give it timeUpdate 2021 mayI can now use it every night. My skin is used to it and now I’m applying it on my neck too. Def worth the time and money because I can feel my face firming up and not as saggy as before. Worth the money time and wait. Might be scary at first but time and patience will reward you and your skin!

Use sparingly and moisturize plenty!
I bought this product for occasional breakouts as a 40+ year old with combination skin. I currently have been using different Korean skincare products like Torriden and HaruHaru that have been super hydrating for my skin. It took this product about 3 days to undo weeks of hydration because I accidentally put a thin layer over my entire face thinking it would clear me up faster. I would not recommend you use on entire face as it will dry you out very fast. I would use sparingly in problem areas instead because it does indeed work to dry out pimples. Use on spot or small areas and it will work great. Great product for the cost and over the counter makes it better.

Haven’t noticed a difference
I had high hopes for this product. It was recommended for not only blemishes but also dark spots such as Melasma. I wanted it for melasma and used it daily as directed. It’s been months and honestly I cannot tell a difference. I really hoped it would work but there’s no change. I don’t think it’s a bad product and maybe it works great for acne. I don’t know. I thankfully don’t suffer with acne.

Reliable and Effective Acne Treatment
I usually buy a different store-brand adapalene gel, but when it was sold out at several locations, I decided to give AcneFree a try. I’m happy to report that it works just as well as the other brand I’ve been using. The ingredients are identical, there’s no added fragrance, and it keeps my skin clear and healthy. Since I’ve been using adapalene gel for years, I was able to jump straight into using this once daily. This 1.6-ounce tube is a great value and an excellent alternative to other brands. If you’re familiar with adapalene or looking to start using it, this product is a reliable and affordable option. I’ll definitely keep it in mind the next time I need a refill.
